What We Believe
Our goal is to equip God's people to become devoted disciples who are involved in the work of ministering to others and in the edifying of the body of Christ in the unity of the faith and the knowledge of the Son of God. (Ephesians 4:12)
(A) The Holy Scriptures
We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be the verbally and plenary inspired Word of God. The Scriptures are inerrant, infallible and God-breathed, and therefore are the final authority for faith and life. The sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments are the complete and divine revelation of God to Man. The Scriptures shall be interpreted according to their normal grammatical-historical meaning. The King James Version of the Bible shall be the official and only translation used by the Church (2 Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:20-21; )
(B) Dispensationalism
We believe that the Scriptures interpreted in their natural, literal sense reveal divinely determined dispensations or rules of life which define man's responsibilities in successive ages. These dispensations are not ways of salvation, but rather are divinely ordered stewardships by which God directs man according to His purpose. Three of these dispensations--the age of law, the are of the Church, and the age of the kingdom--are the subjects of detailed revelation in Scripture (Gen. 1:28; 1 Cor. 9:17; 2 Cor. 3:9-18; Gal. 3:1-3-25; Eph. 1:10; Col. 1:24-25, 27; Rev. 20:2:6
(C) The Godhead
We believe in one Triune God, eternally existing in three persons--Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, each co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, co-equal in power and glory, and having the same attributes and perfection’s (Deut. 6:4; Matt. 28:19; 2 Cor. 13:14; John 14:10,26).
D) The Person and Work of Christ
(1) We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man, without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful men (Isa. 7:14; 9:6)
(2) We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished our redemption through his death on the cross as a representative, vicarious, substitutionary sacrifice; and, that our justification is made sure by His literal, physical resurrection from the dead (Acts 2:18-36; Rom. 3:24-25; I Peter 2:24; Eph. 1:7; I Peter 1:3-5).
(3) We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ ascended to Heaven, and is now exalted at the right hand of God, where, as our High Priest, He fulfills the ministry of Representative, Intercessor, and Advocate (Acts 1:9-10; Heb. 9:24; 7:25; Rom. 8:34; 1 John 2:1-2).
(E) The Person and Work of the Holy Spirit
(1) We believe the Holy Spirit is a person who convicts the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment; and, that He is the Supernatural Agent in regeneration, baptizing all believers into the body of Christ, indwelling and sealing them unto the day of redemption (John 16:8-11; Rom. 8:9; I Cor. 12:12-14 2 Cor. 3:6; Eph. 1:13-14.
(2) We believe that the sign gifts of the Holy Spirit, such as speaking in tongues and the gift of healing, were temporary. We believe that speaking in tongues was never the common or necessary sign of the baptism or filling of the Holy Spirit and that ultimate deliverance of the body from sickness or death awaits the consummation of our salvation in the resurrection, though God frequently chooses to answer the prayers of believers for physical healing (I Cor. 1:22; 12:8; 14:21-22).
(F) The Total Depravity of Man
We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God, but that in Adam's sin the human race fell, inherited a sinful nature, and became alienated from God: and, that man is totally depraved, and, of himself, utterly unable to remedy his lost condition (Gen. 1:26-27, Rom. 3:22-23; 5;12; 6:23; Eph. 2:1-3; 4:17-19).
(G) Salvation
We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, Whose precious blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins (John 1:12; Eph. 1:7; 2:8-10; 1 Pet. 1:18-19).
(H) The Eternal Security and Assurance of Believers
(1) We believe that all the redeemed, once saved, are kept by God's power and are thus secure in Christ forever (John 6:37-40; 10:27-30; Rom. 8:1, 38-39; I Cot. 1:4-8; Pet. 1:4-5).
(2) We believe that it is the privilege of believers to rejoice in the assurance of their salvation through the testimony of God's Word, which, however, clearly forbids the use of Christian liberty as an occasion to the flesh (Rom. 13:13 -14; Gal. 5:13, Titus 2:11-15).
(J) Separation
We believe that all the saved should live in such a manner as not to bring reproach upon their Savior and Lord; and, that separation from all religious apostasy, all worldly and sinful pleasures, practices and associations is commanded of God (Rom. 12:1-2; 14:13; 2 Cor. 6;14-7:1; 2 Tim. 3:1-5; I John 2:15-17; 2 John 9-11).

Our students now have the ability to work on college credits before they graduate! Calvary Baptist Academy is excited to announce a new opportunity for all our Juniors and Seniors!
Through ACE, Juniors and Seniors can enroll in a distance learning program through an accredited university to begin working on college credits. Qualified students will be able to choose the major of their choice and begin working on a college degree all before they graduate from high school!

One of our dear members has donated $1200 for new hymn books. They should arrive within a couple of weeks. And, yes, we still use the old-fashioned hymnals, even though they are brand new!

Dr. Eddie Woodfield of OreMundo Ministries will be in attendance Sunday Evening. Dr. Woodfield has served the Lord on the mission fields of Spain, Italy, and Mexico. He is also the former Pastor of Dr. John Harbaugh.

Dick and Virginia Soniers from Amazing Grace Missions - Sunday September 23rd - 30th Comal County Fair Booth Evangelism
Dick and Virginia will be with us for the entire week of the Comal County Fair Septemebr 26th - October 1st.
Virginia and I belong to Memorial Baptist Church, 3693 SE 95th St., Ocala, FL 34480, Pastor, Michael D. West.
We joined Amazing Grace Mission Dec. of 1992, since then have worked fairs in 14 states; FL, TX, MO, MA, ME, PA, LA, MS, IN, OH, OK, KY, WV and MI.
In March 1996 after completing 22 years of service as a welder with the Navy, and Navy Reserves (Seabees), Dick retired having reached the rank of Petty Officer First Class.
OUR MINISTRY: We minister with Amazing Grace Mission, which is an Independent Baptist Mission, out of Dayton, TN. We set up booths at state and county fairs and tell people about the Lord Jesus. In the past we have only been able to do one fair in the state of Texas. That was the fair in Beaumont. For 1998 we have asked the Lord to let us see many souls saved in Texas. We have or will be applying to 23 more fairs in Texas. The mission board has asked Dick to head up that step of faith. So far, the Lord has blessed with contracts for 8 of the fairs applied for; Conroe, Galveston, Pasadena, Paris, Longview, Rosenberg, Gatesville, and Beaumont . In 1998 and 1999 we also did the Derrick Day Fair in Corsicanna, TX.

UPDATE ! - SPECIAL PRAYER REQUEST FOR GAYLENE ABUZAID - OPERATION THIS WEDNESDAY!
UPDATE - PRAISE GOD! Gaylene's surgery is over and it went very well! She will remain in the hospital (downtown Methodist in San Antonio) for several days to a week. Mrs Beatty stayed at the hospital overnight with her.

Please be in prayer for Gaylene Abuzaid. She has breast cancer and will be having bilateral mastectomies on December 5th. The surgery can take up to 10 to 12 hours so she really needs our prayers.
Gaylene has been a devoted and faithful member of our church for about 8-10 years. Several years ago Gaylene (who is a Nurse Practitioner) started free health screening for our church members, and has been the instrument the Lord has used to help many in our church. One lady told my wife the other day that "Gaylene saved my life".
Gaylene is also the one that provides the coffee and pastries before Sunday School every Sunday, besides all the other things she does behind the scenes to make CBC the loving church that it is.
We thank the Lord for Gaylene and ask now that you pray for her in this time of need. She covets your prayers.

Eternal Vision Planning Weekend November 1st , 2008
Family & Friends of Calvary Baptist Church and school:
On Saturday, November 1st, we are hosting an event at Calvary Baptist Church called “Eternal Vision Planning Weekend.” Attorney Matt Davis will be with us from the ministry of Eternal Vision in Watertown, Wisconsin, where he serves as Vice President and Corporate Counsel. Attorney Davis is going to present a workshop on Saturday morning called, “Psalm One Counsel: Is Your Estate Plan Biblical?”
I highly encourage you to attend this important seminar. While we may not think about it very often, we all know that someday we must leave this earth and go home to be with the Lord. With the certainty of that thought in mind, every Christian has a responsibility to wisely transfer the resources God has entrusted to them into the hands of another faithful steward! You need wise Bible-based counsel on this crucial topic!
I am including below a list of the topics Attorney Davis has promised to cover in the workshop, and he is planning to stay all afternoon for private appointments to counsel individuals who would like personal assistance with developing a Biblical estate plan. Attorney Davis has great experience with explaining legal issues in plain English—and he has promised: no confusing ‘legalese!’ The workshop and personal appointments are provided free of charge as part of Eternal Vision’s partnership with High Point Baptist Church.
