The Bible shows us the church that is connected to God and one another will be different from the world. If we're not careful, we can allow the culture, and the ways in which society interacts, to influence our hearts and the way we fellowship as a church. In this series, we learn 5 traits of a connect church in a crazy culture.

4/24 Week 1: SINGLEMINDEDNESS IN A CONFUSED CULTURE

Passage: James 1:8

A post-modern culture denies truth leading to people and societies that are confused over simple truths. In a sea of confusion, the connected church has a simplicity of belief, it has prioritized eternity over empty entertainment, and is dedicated to God's purpose in life.

5/1 WEEK 2: Fellowship in a superficial culture

Passage: Acts 2:42

Our fast-paced culture encourages superficial relationships through social media. People have thousands of acquaintances, but very few friends. A connected church is a church that encourages fellowship that stabilizes our faith, sustains our commitment, and strengthens our friendships.

5/8 WEEK 3: VULNERABILITY IN A DISDAINING CULTURE

Passage: Galatians 6:2

In our culture there is disdain directed at anyone who does not live up to their standards. As a result, imperfections are hidden from view and is replaced with a veneer of invulnerability that keeps us from being critical. In this study we learn that the connected church is one which permits vulnerability and promotes burden-bearing and unconditional love.

5/15 WEEK 4: distinction in a dying culture

Passage: 1 John 2:15-17

The Bible clearly tells us the world is passing away. Our culture and society-at-large is dying and in need of someone distinct to light up the darkness and enhance the flavor of our community. A connect church recognizes that they are to be distinct from a dying culture by having distinct desires, affiliations, and practices.

It is said that society is filled with people who emphatically believe in things they've never explored. A connected church explores its faith, and grows as a result.
