Pete Mucher & His Wife Esther
Beacon World Missions
In 1963, Peter founded Mucher Construction, Inc. and operated this company until 1977 when he sold it to his brother, Philip, before going to Nigeria, Africa to construct eight buildings for the Nigerian government. During the years as president of this company, Peter was involved in many organizations. He was one of the founders and Vice President of the Metal Building Dealers Association, belonged to Rotary International, and won many awards for his outstanding sales ability and construction projects.
While he was in Nigeria, Peter surrendered his life to Christ. After returning to the states he worked as Vice President of Marketing for another construction company for nearly two years. During these years he felt the call to full-time Christian work, and in 1980 enrolled at Oklahoma Baptist College in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He graduated from OBC in 1983. He was awarded an honorary doctorate degree by Calvary Baptist Bible Seminary in 2004.
While he was in college Peter felt God's call to begin a video production ministry to help small, country churches be exposed to the preaching of great men of God. In 1981 he started Beacon Video Production, Inc. Peter went to Ukraine in 1992 to videotape a documentary for another mission, and his heart was broken for these people who have never heard the true presentation of the Gospel of Christ. He knew God would help him make a difference in Ukraine, particularly in the Zhytomyr region.
That very year he began to help build and establish churches and brought humanitarian aid to this country to assist with their physical need. Each year since then he has increased this endeavor. In 1995 Peter founded Beacon World Mission, Inc. so others could donate financially and help with medical and other humanitarian items. With much prayer and trust in the Lord, Peter has raised the funds to help establish five churches and supplement medical help, food and clothing for many orphanages and individuals in Zhytomyr.
